Betsson Group wins two awards at the SBC Awards 2020

The Sports Betting Community (SBC) Awards recognise and reward the achievements of operators, affiliates, and suppliers in the betting and gaming industries. Usually held at an exclusive venue in London, this year’s event on Wednesday, 9th December was done in a hybrid version. Most of the attendees joined the live broadcast online but some managed to attend in real life at Stamford Bridge, whilst abiding by a series of enhanced safety measures. The Awards show was hosted by Kirsty Gallacher, who was joined by co-host and former Chelsea and Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech. Legendary footballer and movie star Vinnie Jones made a special guest appearance at the awards.

Betsson Group was declared as the winner of two major award categories during the evening: ‘Football Sportsbook of the Year’, and ‘Socially Responsible Casino of the Year’.

Here’s a deeper look at each category:

Football Sportsbook of the Year
This award recognises the best football offer by a sportsbook of 2020. The criteria that judges were looking for said that this award should go to the operator that has been the most innovative and successful in its activities in 2020 around the sport of football. Particular emphasis will be placed on growth, new market penetration, quality and differentiation of operations, and interaction with the sport of football.

Commenting about this win, the judges praised Betsson Group not just for the growth but also for the increase of total bet count in pre-match and live. Additionally, new market bet placings grew to demonstrate global growth outside of Europe. They also commented on how a real customer-centric approach is complemented with a passion and drive that ensures a great football product is delivered to Betsson’s customers.

Socially Responsible Casino of the Year
This award recognises the casino operator that has done the most in rolling out responsible gaming measures in 2020. Primarily, judges were looking for the provision of problem gambling support, age verification measures, effective KYC procedures, and age verification measures.

Commenting about this win, the judges were particularly impressed by Betsson Group’s integration of responsible gambling within their entire business. They also pointed out how this commitment to offering a socially responsible casino, has resulted in fewer dealings with licensing authorities and a very low level of customer issues relating to responsible gambling.
