Betsson is proud to announce a new partnership with the Malta Ranger Unit (MRU), an NGO founded by a Swedish citizen and Maltese resident. Dedicated to safeguarding Malta’s natural environment, the MRU plays a vital role in promoting sustainable practices and monitoring compliance with environmental laws.

Operating entirely on donations, the MRU patrols the countryside, educates the public on the green code, and addresses issues such as illegal dumping, out-of-season hunting, and fire hazards. With round-the-clock operations, the organisation handles approximately 300 reports of environmental crimes each month, several of which lead to court cases involving severe environmental damage.

In addition to enforcement, the MRU organises clean-ups and partners with events such as trail runs to ensure waste-free outcomes. Betsson’s support, starting in 2025, will enable the MRU to expand its capabilities, enhancing its outreach and impact. Plans are also in place to involve Betsson employees in organised clean-ups, reinforcing corporate sustainability while contributing directly to environmental conservation.

This partnership benefits everyone who values a clean and thriving natural environment, empowering those who call the island a home to protect Malta’s unique ecosystems for generations to come. Together, Betsson and the MRU will be paving the way for a greener and more sustainable Malta.
