An exciting opportunity has arisen at Betsson Group Malta. We are looking for a Director of Engineering (Platforms) to join our team.

The Wow

The Director of Engineering (Platforms) will lead the Platform Engineering organisation and will be responsible for the delivery, performance, and evolution of core backend domains including PAM, Wallet, Gaming, and Campaign & Rewards. The incumbent will ensure scalable, reliable, and efficient platform capabilities that support product delivery across the organisation.

 

A taster of what you will be involved with: 

  • Lead engineering delivery across platform domains (PAM, Wallet, Gaming, Campaign & Rewards)
  • Own the operational performance, scalability, and reliability of platform systems
  • Manage and develop Heads of Engineering and engineering leadership teams
  • Drive execution against strategic priorities set by the Chief Architect and Chief Technology Officer
  • Ensure consistent engineering standards, practices, and delivery quality across platform domains
  • Partner with Architecture to implement target architecture and technical direction
  • Collaborate with Product and Experience Engineering to enable product delivery through platform capabilities
  • Drive resource planning, organisational design, and scaling of platform teams
  • Own budget, capacity planning, and cost optimisation within platform domains

 

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 10+ years in software engineering
  • 5+ years in senior leadership roles managing large engineering teams
  • Proven experience leading complex backend/platform engineering domains
  • Experience managing multiple product/platform areas simultaneously
  • Strong leadership and organisational design capability
  • Experience operating in large-scale, multi-domain engineering organisations
  • Ability to balance delivery, stability, and long-term platform evolution
  • Strong stakeholder management across technical and business leadership
  • Commercial awareness with focus on efficiency and cost optimisation
